Join Us for a Special Community Partnership with Spectrum & Capital District Modern Quilt Guild!
This October, we’re teaming up to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we need your help to make a real difference! Let’s come together, have some fun, and work alongside local businesses and community organizations to support a great cause.
Want to get involved? Here are three easy ways to contribute:
-
Drop-off Fully Completed Heating Pads: Grab your sewing supplies and follow the instructions below to create a heating pad(s). Fill it with rice, and you’re all set! Please drop off completed heating pads on or before the final Sew Day on October 19th at Amelia's Garden.
-
Drop-off Heating Pad Base only: Drop off a pre-made heating pad (without rice), and we’ll stuff it and sew it closed for you.
-
Join the Fun: Bring your sewing machine, roll up your sleeves, and join us to make heating pads on-site or help us sew closed the bases dropped off.
Heating Pad Instructions:
-
From a fat quarter, cut (2) 6 x 22 rectangles. Note: from two fat quarters you could make three heating pads. If your fat quarter (or remnant) is slightly longer or shorter, that’s no big deal.
-
Sew along the outside, leaving three openings for filling. Each opening should be about 2 inches.
-
Turn the rectangles right side out and sew dividers to make 3 equal-sized compartments (each with an opening for filling).
